Official signature of the Health and Safety guidelines by the European Sport Social Partners
The recognized Social Partners, EASE (European Association of Sport Employers) and UNI Europa, are glad to announce the finalization and the official signature of the Guidelines on Health and Safety in the European sport and active leisure sector last week in Brussels.
The core purpose of these guidelines is to promote minimum standards for the provision of a safe and healthy work environment which is in the interest and is the responsibility of both sport employers and workers.
Both Parties agree that international conventions (ILO), European directives and national labour legislation standards on health and safety apply in general to the sport and active leisure sector, as to any other sector.
The guidelines shall act as a reference for risk assessments, preventive measures, and national agreements between social partners to help protect the safety and health of workers in the sector.
This joint success demonstrates once more the importance of our ESSDC (European Sectoral Social Dialogue) test phase which gives a real opportunity to a large number of employees and employers organizations to gather and discuss common issues and priorities. The European Social Dialogue process is clearly essential to the development of sport in Europe.
EASE and UNI Europa Sport call upon social partners at national level to participate in the European social dialogue and work along these guidelines towards national agreements on health and safety in order to promote the health and safety of all workers in the sector.
Both organizations count on their members and on all sport stakeholders to disseminate the guidelines on a large scale.
Partner EOSE project
EASE is partner in a EOSE project ‘ Feasibility study of setting up a European Sector Council on Skills and employment for the sport and active leisure’. The Consortium has been appointed by the Directorate-General Employment and Social Affairs to carry out a feasibility study on setting up a sector council on skills and employment for the sport and active leisure sector in the EU. The work has been awarded to the Consortium and will be carried out over the next 12 months, finishing in December 2014.
The Feasibility Study aims:
To explore the potential for the creation of an ESSC that could support the development of the Sector, and especially its workforce, at both a national and European level.
To launch a mapping and feasibility exploratory phase to assess the value added and willingness of creating a EU Sector Skills Council for the Sport and Active Leisure sector.
